I live with my husband, and our two Yorkies Charlie and Dali. 13924 Ventura Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 91423. I am a Public Relations Specialist for a Non-Profit organization based out of Oakland California. I am a newlywed! I just left all my fears about “not cooking as good as my mom” behind me and am now fearlessly becoming “a little more” (poquito mas) chef one recipe at a time! Together we will become “Poquito mas Chefs” in no time! Now, its just me (and occasionally, my mother’s voice on the phone reminding me that I can do it.) As intimidated as I was about that in the beginning, my fear has been less and less with each dish! My hope is to encourage YOU to cook more often, by sharing with you some of the recipes I have made and guiding you step by step. Now as a new bride, long gone are the days when my mother coached me at her side to be “Poquito mas” fearless in the kitchen. She said I was always too scared to “mess up the dish” and would almost always hold back! My mother found a way to encourage me to be fearless, with a tender spanish phrase “poquito mas!” Every time that she thought I was holding back from adding a little too much of something (salt, spices, herbs, even good ol’ water!) to any recipe she would give me a playful shove and say “Hechale poquito mas!!” (“add a little more!”) Her encouragement always made cooking more fun and less intimidating. She always used to tell me that I cooked with fear. ![]() Some of the fondest memories I have from cooking with my mother as a kid, involve her making fun of me. ![]() I want to welcome you to my blog! Yes– it’s a young blog, but it will come to full life little by little, or as we say in Spanish “poquito a poquito!” I know some of you might be wondering what does “Poquito mas” mean!? Well, you see– I’m Mexican and in my language “Poquito mas” means “A little more!” Now, why name my blog “Poquito mas Chef?” ![]()
